These are of my wonderful feathered companions
Consideration
That said, I want discourage you from ever obtaining birds of any type until you fully understand exactly what you are getting yourself into.
Here are the basics of having these types of birds:
- They are smart, incredible good problem solvers do not underestimate what you think they can and cannot do. Doing so will cause much displeasure as , it is their nature, chew-up your favorite irreplaceable things
- These animals are social animals; it is not enough to feed and keep them in a nice clean cage; they need your attention and love.
- Unlike dogs, bonded birds consider you their equals; you essentially become a surrogate mate.
- They are more than likely out live you and there is a very good chance of the bird dying of extreme depression no matter how good a home/family it enters into after you pass away
- For the most part you cannot simply give away a bird especially once it has bonded to you or someone in your family. It could do horrible things to itself including dying from depression.
- They are monetarily and time-wise expensive. You maybe surprise to know to properly feed a Macaw cost just as much maybe more than it does to feed yourself or a child.
Do Not Get Any Birds Of This Type, Unless You Fully Understand That You Essencially Will Have A Child That Will Be Totally Dependent On You For The Rest Of Your Life. The Typical Life Span Of These Type Of Birds Is Between 40 to 80 years, Although I Have See Two Birds That Were Over 105 Years.
